Day 6
I always suspected that this could be the toughest day. I’m glad it followed the Rest Day!
It was the longest ride, with the most climbing (even if most of that was relatively gentle slopes), and it turned out to be the hottest day, ending at the least pleasant campsite and, to round it off, all the supermarkets are closed on Sunday and the only shop open, where I could get bread and milk, was back down at the bottom of the hill that I had just fought my way up very slowly. Indeed, I had already cycled past the shop. Of course, the second time up the hill was easier as I had already unloaded the heavy bags.
Still, I made it, and I don’t need an early start tomorrow as it should be the easiest stage – only just over half today’s distance, only a couple of obvious slopes, and after reaching the highest point of the ride, there is more downhill as the finish point is lower than the start. However, it is likely to still be quite warm even though it is getting cooler as I travel north.
Hopefully, tomorrow will be a bit more photogenic mid ride, but here are some photos from today and the route video.
