Tuesday 8/9:
Tours – Azay-le-Rideau (34km)
If all is going to plan, my train from Caen will arrive at Tours at 4pm and I will set off for a 2 to 3 hours trip to the first campsite stop. The route begins following the Cher river, basically flat for around 20km, to Villandry, before turning inland after passing the Château de Villandry. The route then goes uphill for 1km, with an average gradient of 4.5% (max 7%). There are then 4km slightly downhill before a gentle incline for the next 4km, a couple of km roughly flat, and concluding with a descent for the final 2km – average 3%, max 7%. The campsite at Azay is on the Indre river, near to the Château.
